Life is like a journey through an undulating plain – the “ups and downs” on which many are to struggle through. Kings or subjects; prince or pauper; rich or poor, at one time or the other, everyone had to go through a struggle –such is the cause of life. Across in this journey of life, we encounter factors that are determinant, which separates to success or failure. We call it destiny. Some say it is the inevitable future. Yes they are right, but it is also of a future that is determinable. Destiny is like your destination and you can determine where you want to be.
Just like the ways on which travel upon to arrive at different destinations in this real world, there are routes to where we want to be in journeys of life; many options –that talks about the choices we make. Life is a complex journey. We better take a step at a time, having it in mind that it is equally important not only to get to our destination but also to get there at the right time. Life can be illustrated as stirring a vehicle along a meandering road; so focus is important to stir in the right direction.
Life is a study by which we discover. To live life is to acquire experience. Either good or bad, no experience is a waste but an opportunity for us to restructure and re-
There is a recreation park where I frequently pray and study the bible. It is a wonderful place with blissful serenity. A stretch of narrow landscape, a splendid display of nature, blessed with trees and flowers, under-
This gang rob people right before my very eyes on countless occasions while I study or pray in the park. I witness them perpetrating their crime so frequently that I became aware of their tactics. I could even identify them regardless of how they disguise –coming back the next day in different head gears and clothing, so not to be identified of their previous crimes. They usually strike in the evening hours -
The next day, they would be back in the park in different clothing, waiting to lock-
As we dragged him along, he flung his knife into the grass; then I realize that he has stabbed his victim on the fingers and he (the Indian) was bleeding. Along the way to the car park, he (robber) bragged unremorsefully, telling us he would simply tell the cops that he was going quietly on his way when we just decided to apprehend him for no reason. He told us there is no proof as he has thrown away the knife –the evidence that could incriminate him. He was so confident of himself like he has a perfect understanding of the proceedings to convicting criminals as a matter of experience with the cops. The cops soon arrive, search and found the knife –the piece of evidence, arrested and took him away.
Just few days later they were back in the park but not with the one that was arrested by the police. One other thing they do besides robbing is scavenging. They go from one trash bin to another in search of left over food and alcohol.
Seeing what they do to people, I hated them with a passion. I know it is not Christian to hate but I just couldn’t help it. They know me and they know that I could identify them. They could discern the hatred in my eyes each time I look at them with despise. But for reasons I do not understand, they stay away from me. I usually go around in the park telling people sitting in isolated areas to reposition into the open places. It helped but the robbing didn’t stop.
Later one day around 12:00 noon: shortly after rainfall, I arrived at the park to do my prayers. I caught sight of an incident: I saw a little gathering of about four people and a man who lay on the grass. It is not unusual for people to lie on the grass in the park, but what’s about the gathering? Could that man be dead? I decided to find out by getting closer. As I get closer, I saw a man walking his pets, lashed to his hands. He just looked at the man on the floor like a log of wood and went his way. On getting there, everybody had gone their way leaving the man alone on the grass.
